There are so many organisations out there doing fabulous and important work to protect our natural world that it is hard to choose just a few. The following are organisations that I have a strong connection with, either through my own experiences, or as a supporter. We are inundated with negative news stories about the state of our planet, but it gives me hope when I think about all of the different projects going on that are working to make a positive difference. I hope you find them interesting.

 Neotropical Primate Conservation

All three branches were set up in order to promote the conservation of Neotropical forest habitat and wildlife through various means. These include: land protection; research; improvement of degraded habitat for wildlife; creation of public awareness; and facilitation of the commercialisation of sustainable, ecological products on behalf of local people. Since 2007 NPC has been using primates as “flagship species” for community conservation projects.

Danau Girang Field Centre

Zoom back to the early posts on this blog (2008 - 2009) and you'll find my experiences from this field centre in its early days. Today, it is a busy centre hosting scientists working on a huge range of wildlife conservation projects.

“HUTAN believes that a crucial and urgent step to solve human wildlife conflicts and to prevent the complete extinction of the orang-utan is to actively engage and support stakeholders in creating innovative mechanisms where local development becomes compatible with the long-term conservation of the orang-utan and its habitat”

SEED

SEED Madagascar (Sustainable Environment, Education & Development in Madagascar) is an award-winning British registered charity (number 1079121). Operating in southeast Madagascar, we manage a wide range of sustainable development and conservation projects across the Anosy region. Alongside this, we aim to raise global awareness of Madagascar’s unique needs and build constructive partnerships to aid development.
